Just try doing some really basic stuff with an arp and work around it with other instruments. after that (if your feeling cheap of using an arp) just put the same keys on another instrument. Oh and just try screwing with alot of effects and gross beat! ^^ that always works for me when im looking for inspiration. starts sounding awesome pretty fast! oh or you could always smoke one...
...actually... screw what i said before... just smoke one!
